Albert J. Kapustas, 97, of New Baden, Ill. and formerly of Ziegler, Ill., died on Monday, February 6, 2006, at Clinton Manor Living Center in New Baden. He was born on January 9, 1909 in Pittston, PA., son of Alexander and Mary (Potasius) Kapustas. He married Minnie Laurenti on September 23, 1944 in Chicago, Ill. and she survives in New Baden, Ill. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister-in-law, Viola Anderson of Aviston, Ill. and nieces and nephews, Joseph Blazine, Msgr. James Blazine, Carolyn & Don Judge, James & Vicki Laurenti, Cathy & Ed Foutch, Mary & Ron Welk and Ann Baker. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ossie Kapustas and Vincent Kapustas and a sister, Olga Roggero. Mr. Kapustas was a retired shipping clerk from Great Lakes Springs Corporation. He was a member of St. George Parish in New Baden and he was a former usher and member of the Holy Name Society of St. Nicholas Church in Chicago, Ill. and a member of United Auto Workers, Chicago, Ill. He was an avid sports fan and a charter member of the Die Hard Cubs Fans. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2006 at St. George Church in New Baden, Ill., with Msgr. James Blazine officiating. Interment will be held at 3 p.m. at St. Aloysius Cemetery in Royalton, Ill. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 9, 2006 at St. George Church in New Baden, Ill. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. George Parish and will be received at the church or Hempen Funeral Home, 15 East Hanover, New Baden, Ill. 62265, who is in charge of arrangements.
