Kathryn Jackson of Carlyle died surrounded by her daughters and daughter-in-law on Sunday, May, 13, 2012 in Carlyle at the age of 99 years. Kathryn was born in Little Prairie, Clinton County, Illinois on October 20, 1912, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Kloeckner) Roberg. She married Allen Jackson on September 29, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri and he preceded her in death on November 21, 1965.
Mrs. Jackson is survived by her daughters: Janet Venhaus and husband Marvin of Breese, Illinois; Mary Hoffman of Winter Springs, Florida, and Jo Ann Smith and husband Chuck of Centralia, Illinois; daughter-in-law: Tess Jackson of Carlyle; sister: Margaret Bertelsmann of Belleville, Illinois; sister-in-law: Florence Roberg; brother-in-law: Paul Bertelsmann; eleven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son: Harry Jackson; son-in-law: Hallie Barnes; brothers: Joseph Roberg and Raymond Roberg; sisters: Mary Langhauser Roeckenhaus, Carolyn Wuebbels, Leona Wuebbles Schulte, and Eleanor Bertelsmann; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Hilda Roberg, Joseph Langhauser, Alec Roeckenhaus, Anthony Wuebbels, Aloys Wuebbles, Leo Schulte, and Joey Bertelsmann.
Kathryn was a member of St. Mary Church in Carlyle and the Goldsmith-Terry V.F.W. Post 3523 Auxiliary in Carlyle. She had retired as the manager of the Goldsmith-Terry V.F.W. Post 3523 and also was also retired as a greeter at the Carlyle Wal-Mart Store. Kathryn enjoyed cooking, sewing and playing bingo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Mary Church in Carlyle on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. with Fr. George Mauck officiating. The interment will follow in Carlyle Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle on Monday from 5 to 8 P.M. or on Tuesday from 8 to 9:30 A.M.
