Kenneth J. Links, age 85 of Troy, formerly of Carlyle passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2016, in Highland. Kenneth was born in Keyesport on June 26, 1931, the son of Kenneth and Flora (Carmen) Links, both preceded him in death. He married Shirley (Burnett) Links on March 7, 1953, in Carlyle and she preceded him in death on April 9, 1997. He later met his fiancé Juanita Sigrist and she survives in Farina, Illinois.
In addition to his fiancé, Mr. Links is survived by his two daughters: Ramona Moravec and husband Rich of Troy, and Rebecca Fruth and husband Michael of Highland; four grandchildren: Larry King, Krystal Fulton and husband Chris, Mandi Smith and husband Paul, and Crystal Moravec; 11 great grandchildren: Merik, Mackenzie, Kassie, Sydney, Lizzy, Ashley, Chase, Ava, Kevin, Hunter, and Madison; his sister, Patty and three brothers: Benny, Carroll, and Butch.
Kenneth was a veteran of the United State Army. He worked for Illinois Power his entire adult life, where he was responsible for inventory and supplies. Mr. Links was a member of Union Local 397 for more than 55 years. He enjoyed being on his motorcycle and going to the casino but most of all, he loved being with his family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle with Rev. Matt Friz officiating. Interment will follow at Carlyle Township Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, from 4 until 8:00 PM and on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until the time of services at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle.
Memorials in memory of Kenneth are suggested to Heartland Hospice or the charity of donor’s choice and will be received at Nordike Funeral Home, 740 Fairfax Street, Carlyle, Illinois.
