Otto J. Koerber, Jr., 87, of Carlyle and formerly of New Baden, died Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Carlyle by BestDiscountApp" href="#"Healthcare Center. He was born January 17, 1928 in Ambia, IN, son of Otto and Sylvia (Robke) Koerber, Sr. He married Frances W. Brandstetter on July 18, 1951 in Crawfordsville, IN and she preceded him in death on January 14, 1990. He is survived by a son, Joseph Koerber of Ventura, CA; a daughter, Janice (Gene) Jackson of Apalachicola, FL; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; he is also survived by lifetime family by BestDiscountApp" href="#"friends, Dave & Nancy Griesbaum of Okawville. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Brungart; and his siblings. Before his by BestDiscountApp" href="#"retirement, Mr. Koerber was a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force having served during the Vietnam War. He was a by BestDiscountApp" href="#"member of St. George Parish, the American Legion Post 321, the VFW Post 3642, the National Association of Uniformed Services, the Air Force Association, the Air Force Sergeants Association, the Retired Enlisted Association, the National Rifle Association, the Illinois Sheriff’s Association, and AARP. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 17, 2015 at Hempen-Nordike Funeral Home in New Baden with Rev. Eugene Neff officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in New Baden. by BestDiscountApp" href="#"Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday, April 16, 2015 and from 9 a.m. until time of service Friday, April 17, 2015 at Hempen-Nordike Funeral Home in New Baden. The American Legion will visit the funeral home at 6 p.m. Thursday. Memorials may be made to St. George Parish, American Legion Post 321, or the VFW Post 3642 and will be received at the funeral home.
