Joseph C. "Joe" Kollmann, 94, of New Baden, died Sunday, January 13, 2008, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese. He was born August 2, 1913 in Damiansville, son of Clemens and Josephine (Jansen) Kollmann. He married Annie Wiegmann January 23, 1935 and she died March 30, 1936. He later married Bernadine Schomaker May 26, 1937 and she died June 25, 1951. On August 4, 1953 he married Lucille F. Schomaker and she died on February 22, 1996. Mr. Kollmann is survived by his children, Margaret Thoele and husband William, Steve Kollmann and wife Marilyn all of New Baden, Mary Black and husband Wayne of Trenton, Elaine Huegen and husband Russ of Albers, and Susie Drees and husband Jerry of Trenton; daughter-in-law, Teresa Kollmann of Trenton; 20 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Herman Kollmann of Albers and two sisters, Theresa A. Kruse Kollmann of Red Bud and Hermina Kollmann of Damiansville; and one sister-in-law, Geraldine "Gerry" Schomaker of Trenton. In addition to his wives and parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Norman Kollmann; one grandson, Kurt Huegen; one brother, William "Jack" Kollmann and three sisters, Sister Mary Clement Kollmann, Sister Mary Sebastian Kollmann and Sister Mary Lucida Kollmann; a brother-in-law, William Kruse and two sisters-in-law, Hulda Kollmann and Mildred Kollmann. Mr. Kollmann was a retired farmer. He was a member of St. George Parish in New Baden and the Clinton County Farm Bureau. A funeral mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden with Rev. Eugene Neff officiating. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in New Baden. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2008 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden. There will be a prayer service at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice, St. George Cemetery Fund or for masses and will be received at the funeral home.
