Ann W. Kreke, 80, of New Baden, died Monday, May 11, 2015 at Countryside Manor in Aviston. She was born June 3, 1934 in Damiansville, daughter of William and Mary (Moss) Jansen, Sr. She married Paul H. Kreke on September 24, 1952 in Damiansville and he preceded her in death on July 20, 2003. She is survived by six daughters, Brenda (Jerry) Linthicum of New Baden, Deborah (Claus) Schroeder of Albers, Sharon (Rick) Casson of Columbia, Susan (Dave) Quitmeyer of Trenton, Marsha (Don) Maine II of Alhambra, and Lynn (Mike) Fuhler of Trenton; a daughter-in-law, Susan Kreke of Chicago; 12 grandchildren, Matthew (Melissa) Kreke, Evan (Becky) Kreke, Kim Kreke, Kristin Linthicum-McFarland, Megan Schroeder, Jacob (Anne Adler) Casson, Paige Casson, Anna Quitmeyer, Katie Maine, Karlie Maine, and Emily and Nicole Fuhler; three great-grandchildren, Paul Kreke, Henry Kreke, and Brendan McFarland; and a sister-in-law, Viola Jansen of New Baden. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, Paul W. Kreke; a daughter, Cindy Sue Kreke; a sister, Marie Santel; five brothers, Ben Jansen, Bill Jansen, Clem Jansen, Henry “Heine” Jansen, and Herman Jansen, Sr.; a brother-in-law, Archie Santel; and sisters-in-law, Cecilia Jansen, Corrine Jansen, Rosemarie Jansen, and Vivian Jansen. Mrs. Kreke was a custodian at the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department. She was a member of St. George Parish in New Baden and the American Legion Post 1026 Auxiliary in Albers. Ann enjoyed quilting, stitching, attending senior citizen luncheons, watching St. Louis Cardinals games, and being with family. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 15, 2015 at St. Damian Catholic Church in Damiansville with Rev. Eugene Neff officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in New Baden. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2015 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 15, 2015 at Hempen-Nordike Funeral Home in New Baden. The Senior Citizen’s will visit the funeral home at 5 p.m. Thursday. Memorials may be made to Murray Center Parent’s Association, Hospice of Southern Illinois, or Shriner’s Hospital of St. Louis and will be received at the funeral home.
