H. Daniel Kues, 82, of Fort Collins, Colo. (formerly of Breese), died Saturday, June 24, 2006. He was born October 17, 1923 in Aviston son of Clara (Daniel) and Otto Kues. On April 9, 1947 he married Grace Niemeyer at Breese. Dan worked as a carpenter for 50 years and was a member of the Carpenter’s Local 480. He served with the United States Navy, was a member of the American Legion Post 252, a member of the Fire Department for 24 years, a member of St. Dominic Church, and an avid bowler and horseshoe pitcher. Survivors include his wife; a son, Ken; a daughter, Dawn (Dave) Kubicek; a granddaughter, Danielle, a grandson, London; two brothers, Urban "Red" of Breese and John (Doris) of Lebanon; and four sisters, Sylvia Ratermann of Aviston, Mary Jane Korte of Trenton, Dolores Lampe of Aviston, and Elizabeth (Ralph) Sphilmann of Columbia, IL; and a sister-in-law, Mary Kues of St. Peters, MO. He was preceded in death by is parents; two brothers, Joe and Ed; and two sisters, Johanna VonHatten, and Martha Baird. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2006 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2006 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese with Father Pat Peter officiating. Interment will be in St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery in Breese. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor’s choice and will be received at the church.
