David V. Lampe, 81, of Germantown, died Friday, July 29, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville. He was born July 26, 1930 in Germantown, son of Henry and Rose (Meier) Lampe. He married Margaret Smerz on July 10, 1954 in St. Louis, MO and she preceded him in death on November 16, 1985. He then married Mildred “Sis” (Taylor) Kleber on July 29, 1988 at St. Boniface Church in Germantown and she survives in Germantown. In addition to his second wife, he is survived by his children, Rita Haukap of Damiansville, Chris (Daniel) Loepker and Dave (Chris) Lampe all of Bartelso, and Mike (special friend, Wanda Nelson) Lampe of Trenton; step-daughter, Patsy Ronan of Carlyle; 12 grandchildren, Erin (Keith) Korte, Ryan (Jennifer) Haukap, Miranda (Pat) Miller, Jason Loepker, Jessica (Garret) Wedekemper, Matt (Amber) Lampe, Ashley (special friend, Chad Eversgerd) Lampe, Raquel (Kermit) Anderson, Courtney Herzing, Andria Lampe, Jack Lampe and Jordyn Lampe; three step-grandchildren, Eli (special friend, Jennifer Clark) Kleber, Wesley Ronan and Kelly Cherry; nine great-grandchildren, Keelyn Miller, Collin Loepker, William, Valerie, and Elizabeth Rommerskirchen, Olivia and Mariyah Anderson, and Julia and Trent Korte, and Dave was looking forward to the birth of two additional great-grandchildren; brothers & sisters, Magdelyn Lampe of St. Louis, MO, Monica Hermes of St. Louis, MO, Tom (Evelyn) Lampe of Carlyle, Barbara (Ralph) Jansen of St. Louis, MO, and Gerald (Laura) Lampe of Germantown; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Delores Lampe of Germantown, Dolly Lampe of St. Louis, MO, Lorraine Johnson of Memphis, TN, Louise Taylor and Jesse and Rose Taylor all of Carlyle, Bob and Connie Taylor of Cabet, AR, Pat Taylor and Margie Taylor all of Carlyle, Nancy Wood and Chris Weckler of Belleville, Don and Darlene Hegger of Aviston, and Eileen and Ray Allison of Chester. In addition to his first wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Michael Haukap; step-son, Gary Kleber and his wife Kerry; three brothers, Greg Lampe, August Lampe and Ervin Lampe; a great-granddaughter, Allison Korte; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, William Hermes, Shirley Lampe, Ruth and Danny Koester, Mary Smerz, George Smerz, Bill and Betty Smerz, Don Johnson, Roy Taylor, Jack Taylor, Charlie Taylor and Phyllis and Bernell Schniers. Mr. Lampe was a retired Clinton County Clerk. He also owned and operated Dave’s Tavern for 13 years and Lampe Auction Service. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Boniface Parish and the church choir in Germantown, a member of the Germantown Volunteer Fire Department, the Breese Knights of Columbus Council # 2869, he was a Clinton County Board member, a member of the Germantown Businessman’s Association, a member of the Kernel Nut Club, the Germantown Boomkessel Band, the American Legion Post 325, and the Clinton County Tavern Association. He was also a Clinton County Democrat precinct committeeman and treasurer of the Clinton County Democrat Central Committee. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown with Msgr. Jim Buerster officiating. Burial will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery in Germantown. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, August 1, 2011 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at Hempen Funeral Home in Breese. The American Legion will visit at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Community Link or to Clinton County Relay For Life and will be received at the funeral home.
