Joseph B. Langenhorst, 88, of Florissant, MO, formerly of Albers, IL, died Sunday, April 20, 2008 at Christian Hospital Northeast, in St. Louis County, MO. He was born June 25, 1919 in Belleville, IL, son of Henry and Elizabeth (Schulte) Langenhorst. He married Elenor Seibert in Trenton, IL on February 23, 1949 and she survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Joseph E. (Deborah) Langenhorst of St. Charles, MO; and two daughters, Julia Ann Frison of Florissant, MO and Jean Marie (Bruce) Bauer of Overland, MO; two grandchildren, Amy Langenhorst and Matthew Langenhorst. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Ed Langenhorst; a sister Emma Heimann; a sister-in-law, Frances Langenhorst; and a brother-in-law, William Heimann. Prior to his retirement Mr. Langenhorst was a material handler for Ford Motor Company in Hazelwood, MO. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in WWII. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Florissant, MO, a charter member of the American Legion Post 1026 in Albers, IL and the UAW local 325in Hazelwood, MO. A funeral mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Albers, IL with Msgr. Donald Eichenseer officiating. Burial with full military rites will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Albers, IL. Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2008 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at Hempen Funeral Home in Albers, IL. There will be a parish prayer service at 5 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Albers American Legion Post 1026 and will be received at the funeral home.
