Milton G. Lauer, 88 of New Baden, died Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at Countryside Manor in Aviston. He was born October 6, 1921 in Belleville, son of Jacob and Minnie (Stoehr) Lauer. He married Mary Braun on December 26, 1942 at the Cathedral in Belleville. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lauer of New Baden, currently living in Trenton Village in Trenton; a sister, Ruth Braun of Belleville; Milton and Mary are the guardians of Mary O’Leary and she also survives. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Joseph J. Lauer; three brothers, Ray Lauer, Quentin Lauer, and Dan Lauer; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Lauer, Hazel Lauer, and Lena Lauer, and a brother-in-law, Al Braun. Mr. Lauer was a former partner of Hecker Feed Service in Hecker, IL, the former owner of New Baden Grain in New Baden and he was also a farmer. He was a U.S. Veteran of the United States Army serving during WWII, a member of St. George Parish, the American Legion Post 321, and Knights of Columbus Council 10311, all in New Baden. A funeral mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 21, 2010 at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden with Rev. Gene Neff officiating. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in New Baden. Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, August 20, 2010 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Saturday, August 21, 2010 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden. The Knights of Columbus will visit the funeral home at 6:30 p.m. followed by the American Legion at 7 p.m. on Friday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Resurrection Cemetery or Heartland Hospice and will be received at the funeral home.
