Raymond E. Laux, 92, of New Baden, died Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at Grange Nursing Home in Mascoutah. He was born October 11, 1915 in Engleman Township in St. Clair County, son of Gustav and Estella (Krauth) Laux. He married Agatha M. Meyer November 22, 1950 in New Baden and she survives in New Baden. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Francis (Diana) Laux of Prospect Heights, and Verlan "Bud" Laux (Fiancée Debbie Musser) of Trenton; a daughter, Kathy (Dave) Rudy of Mascoutah; nine grandchildren, Melissa Rudy & friend Greg Wiegand of Red Bud, Katy Laux of Paletine, Daniel (Rachel) Rudy of Mascoutah, Kevin Laux of Austin, TX, Michael (Brittany) Laux of New Baden, Timothy Rudy of Mascoutah, Robert Rudy of Mascoutah, Gregory Laux of Trenton, and Lauren Laux of Trenton; a great grandson, Jacob Rudy of Mascoutah; a sister, Ethel (Udell) Kimmle of Mascoutah; two brothers, Eugene (Pauline) Laux and Donald (Laverne "Worney" ) Laux all of New Baden; and sister-in-law, Loretta Meyer of Trenton. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Howard Laux and Russell Laux; a sister, Althea Mehl; brother-in-laws & sisters-in-law, Boyd Mehl, Marcell Meyer, and Cecelia Meyer. Mr. Laux was a retired farmer and school bus driver for Mascoutah Unit School District 19. He was a member of St. George Parish in New Baden and St. Clair County Farm Bureau. A funeral mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2008 at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden with Rev. Eugene Neff officiating. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in New Baden. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2008 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2008 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden. Memorials may be made to Grange Nursing Home Activity Fund or Heartland Hospice and will be received at the funeral home.
