Lawrence D. “Larry” Carthy, 55, of Lebanon, entered the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at his home with his family by his side. He was born February 4, 1963 at St. Mary’s Hospital in E. St. Louis, IL, the son of Medric and Margie, nee Thompson, Carthy. He married Janet Marie Hanson on December 11, 1993 at St. Paul U.C.C. in Lebanon and she survives in Lebanon.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, Mary “Margie” Carthy of O’Fallon; a son, Stephen (Joya) Carthy of O’Fallon; two grandchildren, Ella MaryJane & Rayna AnnMarie Carthy; his siblings, Robert (Sheila) Carthy of Caseyville, James (Sharon) Carthy of New Baden, Daniel (Rebecca) Carthy of Warner Robins, GA, Debra (William) Hassard of Baytown, TX, Michelle (Daniel) Cohen of Powder Springs, GA, Diane (Jeff Struckhoff) Diamond of O’Fallon, and Brad (Chelsea Cooper) Carthy of Shiloh; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ardell & Sandy Hanson of Lebanon; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ruth Hanson & Julie Hanson both of Lebanon, Carmen & Tory Ernst of Highland, Trudy & Eric Goetter of Summerfield, and Rusty Trumpeter of Sullivan, MO; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Medric S. Carthy, Jr.; maternal grandparents, Harris Thompson and William & Marguerite Gordon; his paternal grandparents, Medric & Sophia Carthy; and his sister, Doris Trumpeter.
Mr. Carthy grew up in O’Fallon before moving to Lebanon. He worked as a carpenter by trade. Larry collected Eagles and Harley Davidson motorcycle figurines; he loved his fur baby, Autumn; and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at St. Paul UCC in Lebanon with Rev. Dr. Donald C. Wagner officiating. Burial will follow at College Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 16, 2018 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Nordike Funeral Home in New Baden and again on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 from 9 a.m. time of services at St. Paul UCC in Lebanon.
Memorials may be made to family, in care of Janet Carthy and will be received at the church or funeral home.
