Lee D. Hempen of Carlyle died Sunday, March 11, 2012 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville at the age of 67 years. Lee was born on April 10, 1944 in Breese, the son of Julius "Jude" and Hazel (Hall) Hempen.
Lee is survived by his daughter: Teri Elsing and husband Jeff of Waterloo; three sons: Todd Hempen and wife Linda of Centralia, Troy Hempen of Breese, and Tony Hempen and wife Carlene of Okawville; a brother: Lynn Hempen and wife Marsha of Greenville; and eight grandchildren: Trevor Hempen, Hannah Hempen, Marc Hempen, Eric Hempen, Katie Hempen, Brandy Hempen, Jake Elsing and Nick Elsing
Lee was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carlyle and was retired from the Clinton County Highway Department. When his kids were younger, he enjoyed coaching them during the summer sports seasons and helping them with their scouting activities. He enjoyed fixing things.
The family would like to thank Margaret King for caring for Lee.
Friends may visit with the family at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle on Wednesday from 5 to 8:00 P.M.
The interment services will be private with the family
