Rosemary D. Lengerman, 81, of Belleville, Ill., died Thursday, November 17, 2005 at O’Fallon Health Care Center, in O’Fallon, Ill. She was born on June 6, 1924 in Trenton, Ill., daughter of Hayward J. and Myrtle J. (Schoonover) Zahn. She married Bernard Lengerman on November 27, 1947 in Trenton and he survives in Belleville. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, John Lengerman and wife Carol of Adrien, Mich., formerly of Freeburg, Ill.; and a daughter, Ann Carter and husband Bo of Belleville; grandchildren, Lori Coyle of Chicago, Colleen Coyle of Belleville, Megan Lengerman of Freeburg, and Louis Lengerman of Freeburg; step-grandchildren, Joe Carter and wife Jenni of Belleville, Chris Carter and wife Angel of Gulf Breeze, FL and Stephen Carter of Belleville; step great-grandchildren, Lexie Carter, Kaeleigh Carter and Bella Carter, all of Gulf Breeze, FL; a brother, Charles H. Zahn and wife Elinor of Trenton; and a sister, Lois Wessel and husband Harold of St. Louis, MO; she is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Patrick J. Coyle; brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, Paul & Dorothea Lengerman and Helen & John Glanzner; and a nephew, Stephen Glanzner. Mrs. Lengerman was the first teacher’s aid for disabled children in the Belleville Grade School District; she was also a volunteer at the St. Francis Thrift Shop. She was a member of St. Teresa Parish in Bellville, Daughters of Isabella, University of Illinois Homemakers Extension Service and Catholic Fraternal Life. A funeral mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Belleville with Rev. Trevor Murry officiating and Msgr. Donald Eichenseer will be the homilist. Entombment will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Belleville. Friends may call after 3 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at St. Teresa Catholic Church. The Daughters of Isabella memorial service will be at 4:30 p.m. and the Serra Club St. Clair County memorial service will be at 6:30 p.m. all on Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Teresa Church, Heartland Hospice, or Catholic Urban Program and will be received at the church or Hempen Funeral Home, 15 East Hanover, New Baden, IL 62265.
