Leona M. Beckmann

Leona M. Beckmann, age 84, of Carlyle passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at the Carlyle Healthcare Center. She was born in Bartelso, Illinois on July 22, 1934 the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Jansen) Mueller. She married Leo Beckmann at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Bartelso on June 30, 1954, and he survives in Carlyle.

In addition to her husband, Leona is survived by seven children: Roger (Trish) Beckmann, Brenda (Roy) Paulsmeyer, Carol Beckmann all of Hoffman, Steve (Julie) Beckmann of Carlyle, Ralph (Donna) Beckmann of Carlyle, Karl (Doug Black) Beckmann of St. Louis, and Kim Beckmann of Carlyle; sixteen grandchildren: Ben (Kristy) Beckmann, Nicole (Christopher) Holle, Brian (Cassie) Beckmann, Brad Beckmann, Dallas Freels, Jennifer (Shawn) Carpenter, Ryan Paulsmeyer, Jill Beckmann, Seth Beckmann, Jacob Beckmann, Courtney Toennies, Jessie Beckmann, Brooke Paulsmeyer, Brianne Paulsmeyer, Connor Toennies, and Carsen Beer; eight great grandchildren; her sister, Sister Mary Ann Mueller ASC; In-Laws: Johanna Diekemper, Alfred (Helen) Beckmann, Jerry (Marilyn) Beckmann, Virginia Beckmann, Burnette Beckmann, Helen Heindenrich, and Blanche Brueggemann; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, seven siblings: Paul (Theresa) Mueller, Joe (Mary) Mueller, Marcel (Loretta) Mueller, Sister Mary Agnes Mueller ASC, John (Mary) Mueller, her twin brother, Leonard Mueller, and Rose (Fred) Kreke; In-Laws: Matt Diekemper, Paul Beckmann, Alois (Margie) Beckmann, Louis Heindenrich, Joe Brueggemann, and Dominick Beckmann.

Leona retired from Scott Air Force Base. After retirement she enjoyed being a caretaker at the assisted living center and traveling with her family. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother and she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Carlyle with Fr. George Mauck officiating.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 30, 2018 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle and on Tuesday from 9:00 until 10:45 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Carlyle.
