Leona “Eb” Determan, 90, of New Baden, died Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Trenton Village. She was born November 16, 1928 in Mascoutah, the daughter of Harry and Adelia, nee Krausz, Huelskoetter. She married Norman “Ponch” Determan May 27, 1952 in New Baden and he survives in Trenton.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Joseph) Wobbe; four grandchildren, Nicole (Justin) Hodgson, Laura (Stuart) Knuf, Natalie (Mark) Haag, and Dana (Kyle) Wiegmann; 11 great-grandchildren, Gavin & Ryan Hodgson, Parker, Hayden, & Sutton Knuf, Marlie, Max, Nora, & Henry Haag, and Aislee & Barrett Wiegmann; a sister, LaVerne “Worney” Laux; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Howard Boston, James & Rita Determan, and Janet “Jennie” Morris; and she is also survived by numerous nieces & nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Roger Determan; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leo A. & Katherine Determan; three sisters, Melva “Fritty” Friederich, Delores “Mutz” Edwards, and Darlene Boston; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bobby Edwards, Don Laux, Helen K. “Honna” Determan, Alice & Francis “Franco” Kiefer, and Lorene “Blondie” & Erwin “Tubby” Albers.
Mrs. Determan was retired civil service from Scott AFB. She was a member of St. George Parish in New Baden, and enjoyed walking, reading, and sewing.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden with Rev. Gene Neff officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in New Baden.
Friends may call Monday, April 29, 2019 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 from 8 a.m. until 9:15 a.m. at Nordike Funeral Home in New Baden.
Memorials may be made to the New Baden Ambulance Service, Heartland Hospice, or St. George Cemetery and will be received at the funeral home.
