Leona M. Mondt, 94, of Aviston, died Monday, November 9, 2015 at Aviston Countryside Manor. She was born April 6, 1921 in Breese, daughter of Adam and Elizabeth (Warnecke) Kohrs. She married Cornelius G. “Corney” Mondt Septemeber 29, 1943 in Breese and he preceded her in death February 16, 1994.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Lou (Dennis) Kluemke of Carlyle; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Mondt of Aviston; seven grandchildren, David Mondt, Dan (Donna) Mondt, Sarah (Ryan) Strieker, Debbie Mondt, Keith (Fiancé Lynn Billhartz) Kluemke, Kevin (Lori) Kluemke, and Kyle (Fiancé Betsy Emerick) Kluemke; six great grandchildren, Travis and Amber Mondt, Nolan and Aiden Kumke, Regan and Riley Klumke; and a brother-in-law Albert Seiffert of St. Louis, MO.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, Robert D. Mondt; a granddaughter, Donna Kluemke; her sisters, Virginia Feldmann and Rosemarie Seiffert; two brothers, Eugene Kohrs and Vincent Kohrs; and a sisters-in-law, Olive Kohrs, and Marie Kohrs
Mrs. Mondt was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Francis Parish and Ladies Sodality, CFL, and Clinton County Farm Bureau.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Aviston with Rev. Dan Friedman officiating. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Aviston.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, November 13, 2015 with and from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Nordike Funeral Home in Aviston. A prayer service will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday.
Memorials may be made to Southern Illinois Hospice, St. Francis Church, or the charity of donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.
