Leslie S. Wagoner, 88, of New Baden, IL, died Thursday, September 12, 2019, surrounded by his family when he passed away peacefully at his home. He was born January 23, 1931, in Chaffee, MO, the son of Leslie and Ruth, nee Frazier, Wagoner. In his teen years he was raised by his loving sister and brother-in-law, Bea & Bill Moore. He married his longtime sweetheart Kathryn Burchyett on August 24, 1952 in McClure, IL, and she survives in New Baden, IL. He and his wife previously resided on Guinzy Hill in Collinsville, IL for 54 years. He retired as Pastor of Centerville Bible Church, and he and Katie were longtime members of Edgemont Bible Church in Fairview Heights, IL.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Kathy (Dave) Carlson of Poy Sippi, WI, Bryan (Joyce) Wagoner of Gillespie, IL, Lisa (Steve) Mueller of Lebanon, IL, Gary Wagoner of Paducah, KY, and Jane (Charlie) Moss of Colorado Springs, CO; 16 grandchildren, Louise (Cory) Schreiner, David (Mikayla) Carlson, Jacob Carlson, Jennifer (James) Wright, Brad (Brandie) Wagoner, Beth (Dan) Sies, Joy (Jason) Hart, Stephanie (Matt) VonBokel, Anthony Mueller, Erica (Todd) Dragoo, Austin (Leanne) Wagoner, Joetta (Daniel) Hancock, Josiah Wagoner, Justin (Stephanie) Moss, Lyndsie (Matt) Kenny, and Chelsea Moss; 26 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Gracie Fitzpatrick, Erline Burchyett, Mary Burchyett, and Peggy Burchyett; and many nieces, nephews, and great friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel Lee Carlson; his siblings and their spouses, Bea (Bill) Moore, Jack (Betty) Wagoner, and Toni (Vernon) Madden; his father-in-lawn and mother-in-law, Audrey and Marie Burchyett; brothers-in-law, Cliff Burchyett, Don Burchyett, Jerry Burchyett, and Bill Fitzpatrick; sister-in-law, Delores Burchyett; two nieces, Sharon Moore and Charlette Ridings; and his nephew, Danny Madden.

Mr. Wagoner proudly served in the US Army having served in the Korean War. He graduated from the Midwest Bible and Missionary Institute and was an ordained minister. Leslie was a 50-year member of the Laborers Local 44 in Collinsville. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, boating, oil painting, and coaching sports teams when his children were young.

A Funeral Service will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday, September 18, 2019, at Edgemont Bible Church in Fairview Heights, IL, with Pastor Doug White officiating. Burial with full military honors will be held at 4 p.m. at Lindsey Cemetery in McClure, IL.

Friends may call Wednesday, September 18, 2019, from 9 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at Edgemont Bible Church in Fairview Heights, IL.

Memorials may be made to the International Messengers and will be received at the church or Nordike Funeral Home, 15 E. Hanover, New Baden, IL 62265 who is serving the family.
