David L. Lewis, Sr., 63, of New Baden, died Monday, October 4, 2010 at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese, IL. He was born July 10, 1947 in New Orleans, LA, son of Bernard and Dorothy (Simoneaux) Lewis. He married Patricia Stone on October 16, 1999 in Wendell, ID and she survives in New Baden, IL. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, David L. Lewis, Jr. of Kansas City, MO, Deirdre (Dale) Ice of Jeffersonville, KY, and Jason (Jaime) Lewis of Strongsville, OH; his step-children, Frank Eric (Michelle) Wood of Belair, MD and Jayne’ (Kit) Reed of Gunnison, CO; 13 grandchildren; and three brothers, Michael (Sandra) Lewis of Forsyth, GA, Patrick (Luna) Lewis of Melbourne, FL, and Timothy (Patricia) Lewis of Satellite Beach, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents and a step-daughter, Teresa Wood. Mr. Lewis was an environmental engineer at Scott Air Force Base, IL. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the New Baden United Methodist Church in New Baden. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at the New Baden United Methodist Church in New Baden with Rev. Pam Hoffman officiating. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and will be received at the church or Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden, who is in charge of arrangements.
