Lillie B. Diesen, age 97 of Carlyle, formerly of O’fallon, Illinois passed away on Sunday April 27, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese. Lillie was born on November 23, 1916 in Posey, Illinois the daughter of Jacob and Flora (House) Thouvenin. She married Delmer Diesen on January 12, 1952 and he preceded her in death on May 15, 2004.
Lillie was the last surviving member of her family and was preceded in death by her parents, husband, six sisters: Helen Thouvenin, Clara Johnson, Rose Camp, Mary Koehler, Myrtle Meier, and Loretta Roves; five brothers: Walter, Pete, Clarence, Fred, & Jesse Thouvenin.
Lillie is survived by many nieces & nephews.
During World War II she worked in an ammunition plant in Wood River, IL where she earned the name “Rosy the Riveter.” Lillie was a beautician most of her life and worked in many salons around O’fallon. Later in life she enjoyed trying her luck at the Casinos. Lillie lived life to the fullest and loved everyone.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday May 1, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Carlyle with Monsignor William Hitpas officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Shiloh at 1:30 PM.
Visitation will be on Thursday May 1, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church from 10:00 until 11:00 AM.
Memorials in honor of Lillie can be made to the Clinton County Senior Center or to the charity of donor’s choice and will be received at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle.
