Lloyd E. Pulver, 84, of Beckemeyer, IL, born November 3, 1929 in Sandoval, IL, died Thursday, September 18, 2014 at his home. He married Vera Hustedde at St. Anthony’s Church in Beckemeyer on February 20, 1952, and she survives in Beckemeyer.
Lloyd is also survived by his children Vicki Melton, Randy Pulver, Dale Pulver (special friend, Barb Kretzer), and Keith Pulver, all of Beckemeyer, IL; grandchildren Jennifer Tubb (James) of Beckemeyer, IL Cory Melton (Rae) of Beckemeyer, Ryan Pulver (Jill) of Springfield, IL, and Cara Niemeyer (Tim) of Springfield, IL; great-grandchildren Isabelle and Avery Melton, Berlynn and Hanner Tubb, Wesley Niemeyer, and Cecelia Pulver.
He was preceded in death by his parents Hanner and Mary (Deadmond) Pulver, a sister Vivien Bright, a brother Roy Pulver, and brothers-in-law Bill Reynolds and Duane Bright.
Lloyd was a member of St. Anthony’s Church in Beckemeyer, and retired from Granite City Steel. He served in the United States Army, was a member of Holthaus-Kampwerth American Legion Post 1227 of Beckemeyer, a member of the Beckemeyer Community Development Club, the Beckemeyer Washer Club, and a co-founder of the Clinton County Horseshoe League. Lloyd was an outstanding basketball player in high school and played Clinton County baseball for many years. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, throwing horseshoes, going to the “boat”, and picking up pecans with his grandkids. Spending time with his family was his greatest joy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, September 22, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Anthony’s Church in Beckemeyer with Fr. Chuck Tuttle and Deacon Bob Lippert officiating. The interment will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery with military honors provided by the Holthaus-Kampwerth American Legion Post #1227 Honor Guard.
Friends may visit with the family at the Frerker Funeral Home on Sunday, September 21 from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. or on Monday, September 22 from 8:00 A.M. until 9:30 A.M.
