Loretta L. Dorries of Carlyle passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at the Carlyle Healthcare Center at the age of 83 years. Loretta was born in Wheatfield Township/Clinton County, Illinois of November 10, 1930 the daughter of Fred W. And Amanda (Steffen) Beckemeyer. She married Elmer (Bud) Dorries Jr. on May 17, 1950 in Carlyle, and he preceded her in death on August 26, 2011.
Loretta is survived by her children: Douglas Dorries and wife Debbie and Carol J. Smith both of Centralia; a brother:Robert Beckemeyer and special friend Shirley Jondro of Carlyle; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Ruby Beckemeyer and JoAgnes Beckemeyer both of Carlyle, Verna Hanke and husband Leroy of Salem, Betty Grawe and husband Donnie and Clyde Dorries and wife Jan both of Carlyle; grandchildren: Heather Strader and husband Derek of Carlyle, Nichole Dorries and special friend Joe Sarensen of Centralia, Ross and Shani Smith and Joe Smith all of Centralia; great grandchildren: Grayson Douglas and Callie Nichole Strader of Carlyle, Cameron, Logan, Kailey, Austin, Ayden, Peyton and Aubrey Smith all of Centralia; special niece Dawn Boudouris; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Mrs. Dorries was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers and sisters-in-law: Herbert Beckemeyer and wife Geneva, Ruth Beckemeyer, Clinton Beckemeyer and wife Mary Ann, Calvin Beckemeyer and wife Marilyn,Alvin Beckemeyer and Wayne Beckemeyer, and Wilma Beckemeyer; a niece: Carla Beckemeyer; nephews: Glennon Beckemeyer and Gaylon Beckemeyer.
Loretta was a farm wife and co-owner of Better-Built, Inc. In Beckemeyer from 1982 until her retirement. She was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Carlyle where whe was very active, the Clinton County Farm Bureau and the Odd Fellows Lodge #38. Loretta enjoyed playing pinochle and dominos with family and friends and enjoyed her time with her family.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle with Rev, Earl Menchhoffer officiating. Following the service, in keeping with Loretta’s wishes cremation will take place. A private burial will take place at Carlyle Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the Dorries family at the Frerker Funeral Home on Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services.
