Lorraine H. Strake

Lorraine H. Strake, 89, of Breese, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Breese Nursing Home. She was born December 2, 1926 in Breese, the daughter of Bernard “Ben” and Catherine (Wellen) Peek. She married Victor F. Strake on September 17, 1946 in Aviston and he preceded her in death on December 12, 2007.

She is survived by her children, Ronald (Laura) Strake, Stephen (Mary) Strake, and Kevin (special friend, Tammy Warren) Strake all of Breese; daughter-in-law: Bonita Strake of St. Peters, MO., grandchildren, Matthew Strake, Jennifer (Matthew) Creek, Ryan (Dawn) Strake, Jason Strake, and Brandon Strake (special friend Solana Jimerson); great-grandchildren, Kendra Strake, Aliegha and Grant Creek, and Ava, Tyson, and Van Strake; her first great- great grandchild is due to arrive in September; a sister-in-law, Dolores Peek of Aviston.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son, James Strake; two brothers, Paul Peek and Vic Peek in infancy; three sisters, Adele Delong and Ruth Simonoff, and Marcella Ortmann; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, William Delong, Vincent Ortmann, Dan Simonoff, Ray & Virginia Strake, Henrietta & John Gorchock, Fred & Marcella Stuever, Leona & Al Mondt, Florence & Ken Pschorr, Tom & Mary Ann Strake, and Agnes Strake.

Mrs. Strake was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Augustine Parish and Altar Sodality. She enjoyed quilting and playing cards.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 25, 2016 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese with Msgr. James Buerster officiating. Burial will follow at St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery in Breese.

Friends may call from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday, July 24, 2016 and again on Monday, July 25, 2016 from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at Nordike Funeral Home in Breese.

Memorials in honor of Lorraine may be made to Family Hospice of Belleville, Clinton County Relay for Life, or St. Augustine Parish and will be received at the funeral home.
