Louise was born in Ashley, Illinois on October 10, 1920, the daughter of Percy and Helena (Crow) Peeck. She married Joe E. Schrader on August 17, 1942 in Desoto, Missouri and he passed away on June 17, 1966. On November 10, 1967 Louise married Howard Waeltz in Carlyle and he passed away on August 7, 2002.
Louise is survived by her children: John and Jeanne Schrader of Waterloo, IL and Susie and Dave Vohlken of Kennesaw, Georgia; a brother: Henry Peeck of Swansea, Illinois; a sister: Carolyn Garlich of Glenview, Illinois; grandchildren: Joe Schrader and wife Julie, Jim Schrader and wife Molly, John Vohlken, John Waeltz and Nancy Jo Duffy and husband John; and 10 great grandchildren.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, sibling: Joe Peeck, Mary Smith and Lewis Peeck, and a stepson: Kenny Waeltz.
Joe and Louise operated Schrader Auto Body and Schrader Trailer Sales in Carlyle and worked in the Clinton County Courthouse for many years. After Joe’s death, Louise and her second husband Howard enjoyed their retirement and traveled for many years- Louise enjoyed camping from the 1950's to the 1990's. After the surprise of her daughter’s arrival, Louise decided she had better learn to drive. So in 1964 she received her drivers license- coincidently the same year her son John received his drivers license!
Louise was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carlyle, the Martha Circle at the church and the Carlyle Eastern Star. She was an avid reader of books and also enjoyed sewing, crocheting and quilting. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church in Carlyle with Pastor Keith Michaels officiating. The interment will follow at Carlyle Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family at the Frerker Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6 to 8:00 PM or at the First United Methodist Church on Wednesday from noon until the time of services.
For those wishing to honor Louise with a memorial, the family suggests memorials to the First United Methodist Church of Carlyle or to the Hospice of Southern Illinois and those will be received at the Frerker Funeral Home which is serving the family.
