Lowry, Verna

Verna June Lowry, 89, of Aviston, died Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at Countryside Manor in Aviston. She was born July 31, 1917 in St. Louis, MO, daughter of Oscar and Ada (Jones) Strothman. She married Charles J. Lowry on March 13, 1943 and he preceded her in death on October 11, 1978. She is survived by three sons, Rodney J. Lowry and wife Jeanne of Belleville, Ronald Jay Lowry of Olney, and Greg Lowry and wife Sharon of Centralia; one brother, Dr. Kenneth Strothman and wife Patty of Olney; and good friends Don & Darlene Hegger of Aviston; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Mrs. Lowry was retired from Carlyle Elementary as a teacher’s aid. She was a member of St. Paul Methodist Church in Olney and American Legion Auxiliary. Graveside services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, August 26, 2006 at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Trenton. Memorials may be made to Aviston Countryside Manor and will be received at Hempen Funeral Home who is in charge of arrangements.
