Lucille Rohr of Carlyle died Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at the Carlyle Healthcare Center at the age of 90 years. Mrs. Rohr was born in St. Louis, Missouri on January 29, 1919 the daughter of Anton and Josephine (Koehler) Washford. Lucille married Paul J. Rohr on August 30, 1941 in New Athens, Illinois and he preceded her in death on December 11, 1987Lucille is survived by a daughter: Ruth Thoms and husband Paul of Carlyle; her twin brother: Robert Washford of Beckemeyer; 3 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and 1 step great grandchild.Lucille was a member of St. Mary Church in Carlyle, where she had served as an Eucharistic minister. Lucille was the Parish School of Religion Director at St. Mary’s for many years. She received her bachelors and masters degrees from Southern Illinois University- Edwardsville and was a member of the S.I.U.-E Alumni Association. She had taught at St. Anthony School in Beckemeyer and retired from full-time teaching at St. Augustine School in Breese. She then substitute taught in the Carlyle area before teaching at Mater Dei High School in Breese. In her later years she did private tutoring.A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, August 14, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary Church in Carlyle with Fr. George Mauck officiating. The interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.Friends may visit with the family at the Frerker Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 to 8:00 P.M. or on Friday from 8 to 9:30 A.M.Memorials are suggested to Mater Dei High School Foundation Association- Scholarship Fund and those will be received at the Frerker Funeral Home which is serving the family.
