Alice F. Luitjohan, 77, of Albers, died Thursday, July 17, 2014 in Trenton, IL. She was born August 17, 1936 in Lookingglass Twp, IL, daughter of Ben H. and Mary (Toennies) Korte. She married John H. Luitjohan on June 18, 1957 in Damiansville and he preceded her in death on February 16, 2006. Mrs. Luitjohan is survived by her children, Darrell (Kathy) Luitjohan of Highland, Ken (Anne) Luitjohan of Albers, Diane (Phil) Krydynski of Highland, Dennis (Denise) Luitjohan of Damiansville, Tim (Diane) Luitjohan of Albers, Donna (Nick) Duncan of Highland, and Norma (“Tater”) Hund of New Baden; grandchildren, Kyle Luitjohan, Jason (Genni) Luitjohan, Cory, Alicia, and Sean Luitjohan, Brad (Kim) Luitjohan, Becky (Kyle) Skelton, Savanna Luitjohan, Ashley (Justin) Gerstner, Justin Luitjohan, Andrew and Tyler Hamilton, Todd Krydynski, Sarah (Derrick) Osborn, Brian Krydynski, Alyse, Mitchell, Jaida, and Bailey Duncan, Zachary (Kayla) Hund, and Jessica, Joshua, and Melanie Hund; great-grandchildren; Aliya, Allie, Eli, Payton, Parker, Jeremiah, Aaden, Bryson, and expecting 2 more great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alvina Luitjohan of Damiansville and Sister Florence Korte, ASC of Ruma; three brothers, Jerome “Dick” (Clara) Korte of Collinsville, Ray Korte of Belleville, and Cyril “Pete” (Jane) Korte of Highland; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Veronica Korte of Florida, Marie Horstmann, Rita Warnecke, Delores Zobrist, and Millie Frey all of Highland, Pat Brandmeyer of Damiansville, Frances Luitjohan of Grantfork, Eileen Luitjohan, and Paul & Mary Ann Luitjohan all of Highland. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, Dean Luitjohan; two sisters, Marie Rolves and Sister Mary Judith Korte; four brothers, Ed Korte, Joe Korte, George Korte, and Ferd Korte; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Louis Rolves, Francis Luitjohan, Agnes Korte, Carol Jean Korte, Anna & Ray Spihlman, Clara & Gualbert Emig, Vince Horstmann, Lloyd Warnecke, Maynard “Bud” Zobrist, Allan Frey, Rudy Brandmeyer, Al Luitjohan, Joe & Darlene Luitjohan, and Agnes & Lawrence Goebel. Mrs. Luitjohan was a cook at St. Damian School in Damiansville and what is now Good Ol’ Days Restaurant in New Baden. She was a member of St. Damian Parish and Ladies Sodality. Alice enjoyed spending time with her family and quilting. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at St. Damian Catholic Church in Damiansville with Rev. Jack Joyce officiating. Burial will follow at St. Damian Cemetery in Damiansville. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2014 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be received at the funeral home.
