Marcia Catherine nee Sherman Netemeyer joined Jesus in heaven on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at the Breese Nursing Home at the age of 87 years. She was born in Germantown on June 12, 1926, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Holdener) Sherman. Marcia married her best friend Matthew Netemeyer at St. Mary Church in Carlyle on October 17, 1959 and he preceded her in death on January 7, 2001.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; sibling: Richard Sherman, Dorothy Schiermann and Edmund Sherman; father and mother-in-law: Ed and Isabelle (Schlarmann) Netemeyer; brothers and sisters-in-law: Clarence and Rita Netemeyer and Harold Netemeyer; and a nephew: Tom Koch
As a young woman Marcia was head nurse at St. Louis Universith Hospital until after her marriage when she devoted her life to Matt and her extended family. Marcia and Matt hosted many BBQ’s and sleep overs at their home in Jantzen’s Resort.
Marcia is survived from the Sherman family by brother-in-law: Cletus Schiermann; sister-in-law: Marie Sherman; and nieces and nephews: Steve, John, Joe, Mary, Angela, Bob and Diane, Suzanne, Cathy, Tom, Rick, Nancy. Paul, Julia and Monica; and from the Netemeyer family: brothers and sisters-in-law: Marcella Netemeyer, Esther and Don Koch, and Cletus, Monica Netemeyer; nieces and nephews: Kathy, Mark, Bob, Ed, Cindy, Philip, Tim, Joyce, Beth, Sue, Mark, Matt, Chris, Jim, Mary, Theresa, Allen, Ken, Glen, Keith, Denise, Karl and Carol.
Marcia followed her husband’s footsteps by donating her body to St. Louis University School of Medicine.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Church in Carlyle on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. with Fr. George Mauck officiating. All family and friends are invited to a luncheon at St. Mary Parish Center following the mass.
For those wishing to honor Marcia with a memorial, the family suggests memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice and those will be received at the Frerker Funeral Home which is serving the family.
