Margaret M. (Solis-Kannall) Kruep, age 97, of Salem passed away on Friday, September 28, 2018 at Odin Healthcare Center. She was born on November 14, 1920 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of James and Mary (Garcia) Solis. She Married Ralph V. Kannall on June 14, 1939 at St. Anthony Church in Beckemeyer and he preceded her in death on August 21, 1965; she then married Robert H. Kruep on May 18, 1969 and he survives in Salem.
In addition to her husband she is survived by two sons, Jim (Carol) Kannall and Bill Kannall; a step-daughter Mary Garrison; five step-sons: Lawrence (Linda) Kruep, John (Shannon) Kruep, Richard (Laura) Kruep, and Charles (Kathleen) Kruep, Bruce (Iantha) Kruep; four grandchildren: Geri Lee Strohmeyer, Karrie (Paul) Schaefer, Samuel (Erica) Kannall, and Michael (Jasmine) Kannall, twelve step-grandchildren: Melissa Garrison, Scott (Sandy) Garrison, Dottie Brewster, Doug (Suzanne) Kruep, Erin Kruep, Brianna (Cory) Wellen, Matthew Kruep, Michelle (Matt) Doeding, Tricia (Brian) Albers, Cole Kruep, Te’a Kruep, and Hunter Kruep; and six great-grandchildren: Jessica (Trevor) Voss, Mark (Lauren) Schaeffer, Kelsey Langendurf, Joe Strohmeyer, Elijah Kannall, and Aspen Kannall; four step-great grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren: Mason and Eli Voss; brother-in-law, Rich Hilmes and sisters-in-law, Dora Kruep, Agnes Glaub, Maratha Richter, and Margaret Solis; as well as many special nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, and her son, Tommy Kannall; a step-son, James Kruep; a grandson Mark Kannall; a dauger-in-law Georgie Kannall; a step son-in-law Raymond Garrison; two sisters, Caroline Solis in infancy and Stella Quitmeyer; three brothers: Nick, Oscar and Benny Solis; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Paul Kruep, Paul Richter, Elvin (Doris) Kruep, Wilbert (Mildred) Kruep, Joe (Florence) Kruep, Betty Hilmes, Cele Solis, Henrietta Solis, Stella Solis, and Delbert Quitmeyer.
Mrs. Kruep worked at the General American Insurance Company in St. Louis, St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland, and Walmart in Salem before her retirement. She was member of St. Theresa of Avila Church in Salem since 1975. Margaret loved to be with friends and family and enjoyed helping others.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 1, 2018 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Beckemeyer with Fr. Chuck Tuttle officiating. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery in Beckemeyer.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 PM on Sunday, September 30, 2018 and on Monday from 8:00 until 9:30 AM at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle.
In lieu of flowers and other gifts, memorials may be made to Boys Town, St. Jude’s Children’s Research, or to Disabled Veteran’s and will be received at Nordike Funeral Home, 740 Fairfax Street, Carlyle, IL 62231.
