Margie M. Lanter of Beckemeyer died Friday, August 16, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese at the age of 76 years. Margie was born in Breese, Illinois on October 15, 1936, the daughter of John and Josephine (Habich) Dippel.
Margie is survived by two sons: Guy "Buck" Lanter and special friend Shelly Smith of Centralia and John Lanter of Terre Haute, Indiana; two grandchildren: Charity Loepker and husband Landon of Carlyle and Joe Lanter of Beckemeyer; and two great grandchildren: Natalie Lanter and Caden Loepker;
Margie was preceded in death by her parents and a brother: Edward Dippel.
Margie had served as Wade Township Auditor for 3 years and later as Wade Township Clerk for 37 years.
Mrs. Lanter was a member of the Holthaus-Kampwerth American Legion Post 1227 Auxiliary in Beckemeyer and the Beckemeyer Community Development Club. She was a very faithful fan of the Central High School basketball program.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle. The interment will follow at Beckemeyer Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the Lanter family on Monday at the Frerker Funeral Home from 6 to 8:00 P.M. or on Tuesday from 8:00 A.M. until the time of services.
For those that wish to leave a memorial, the family suggests the Beckemeyer Community Development Club and those will be received at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle which is serving the family.
