Marie C. Lager, 89, of Albers, died Monday, March, 8, 2021 at Cedarhurst of Breese. She was born February 21, 1932 in Breese, the daughter of Ben and Anna, nee Luebke, Book. She married Andrew J. Lager June 11, 1952 in Albers and he preceded her in death on May 15, 2004.
Marie is survived by her three daughters, Nancy (Jerry) Bazzetta, Susie (Dave) Brockmann, and Peggy (Kerry) Fehrmann; grandchildren, Joe (Quy) Bazzetta, Jenny (Sean) Price, Andy Brockmann, and Allyson Fehrmann; great-grandchildren, Henry, Lauren, and Ryan Bazzetta; a brother, Tom (Vicky) Book; and a sister-in-law, Aurelia Wood.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Billy & Sally Brockmann; four brothers, Ferd Book, Ray Book, Benedict “Dick” Book, and Lawrence Book; five sisters, Marcella M. Vosholler, Eleanor Voss, Bernadine Haake, Agnes “Aggie” Altgilbers, and Adele Gerling; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Bernice Book, Alice Book, Martha Book, Mary “Snookie” Book, Linus H. “Fuzzy” Vosholler, Leander Voss, Leroy Haake, Norbert “Ally” Altgilbers, Erwin Gerling, Cletus & Acquilline Lager, Ardell Reilmann, and Cletus Wood.
Mrs. Lager was a homemaker and was the owner of Lager Floor Covering for 22 years with her husband, Andy. She was a member of St. Bernard Parish and Altar Sodality, the American Legion Post 1026 Auxiliary for 73 years, and the Red Hatters. Marie enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and spending time with family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Cedarhurst of Breese, Residential Hospice, and Avison Countryside Manor for the care they gave to Marie.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Albers.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital in TN (her grandson Billy was treated there) and will be received at the church or Nordike Funeral Home, 15 E. Hanover St., New Baden, IL 62265 who is serving the family.
