Marie H. McKenna

Marie H. McKenna, 99, of Breese, died Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Breese Nursing Home. She was born May 18, 1917 in Volga, IA, the daughter of Arthur and Gertrude (Rogers) Chappell. She married Alfred Marmann and he preceded her in death on March 3, 1951; and later married John McKenna and he preceded her in death on December 4, 1983.

Marie is survived by three daughters, Geraldine Cover of Castle Rock, CO., Eileen Marmann of Denver, CO., and Mary Ann Neumann of Breese, IL.; five grandchildren, Maria (Kevin) Meyer, Rob (Cindy) Neumann, Jeff Cover, Scott (Lisa) Cover, and Clint Cover; 11 great-grandchildren, Ryan (Brittney) Meyer, Lacey (Kyle) Lakenburgess, Alex Neumann, Julia Neumann, Caleb Cover, Caitlyn Cover, Ally Cover, Zachary Cover, Ty Cover, Braxton Cover, and Emersyn Cover; and a sister, Dorothy Fall of Des Moines, IA; and a great - great granddaughter, Hadlyn Meyer.

In addition to her parents and husbands she is preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Steve Cover and Linny Neumann; a brother, George Chappell; a sister, Bernice Holmstrom; and sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Loretta Chappell, Gary Fall, and Bob Holmstrom.

Mrs. McKenna was a waitress, and then a babysitter for the Bruegge family for many years. She was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, an honorary member of St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary, and a former member of the Breese Senior Women’s Club.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 30, 2016 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese with Rev. Pat Peter officiating. Burial will follow at St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery in Breese.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services on Friday, September 30, 2016 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice and will be received at the church or Nordike Funeral Home, 150 N. Clinton, Breese, IL 62230 who is serving the family.
