Marita Bertille Strubhart, 86, of Aviston, died Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at her home. She was born May 8, 1938 in Red Bud, the daughter of Leo and Rosalia, nee Brandt, Orlet. She married Nicholas Strubhart September 13, 1960 in Belleville and he preceded her in death on September 25, 2020.
Marita is survived by her children, Cindy (Mike) Ratermann, Joe (Cari) Strubhart, Jim (Vonnie) Strubhart, Jerry (Sandy) Strubhart, and Jeff (Liz) Strubhart; grandchildren, Heather Ratermann, Matt (Shannon) Strubhart, Adam (Anna) Strubhart, Amber Strubhart, Jordan Strubhart, Hunter Strubhart, Jacob Strubhart, Luke Strubhart, Melissa (Kenny) Reese, and Brandon Mills; great-grandchildren, Brynlee & Ledah Boshera, Raylan Mitchell, Tristen Ratermann, Caleb, Haley & Brooklyn Strubhart, Weston & Wyatt Strubhart, Brady Bagwell, and Rylan & Adleigh Mills; a brother, Henry (Phyllis) Orlet; a sister, JoAnn Schoenherr; and sisters-in-law, Gertrude Frey, and Betty Lou Salemi.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jenny Boshera; a brother, Paul Orlet; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Nicholas and Margaret Strubhart; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Charles & Margaret Strubhart, James & Marilyn Strubhart, Paul & Marcella Strubhart, Xavier "Sam" & Dolores Strubhart, Thomas & Erlene Strubhart, Martha & Ceaser Altgilbers, Marie Virginia Strubhart SSND, Tony Salemi, Francis Frey and Gerald Schoenherr.
Marita was a cook at Central High School, a bank teller at Aviston Community Bank and a devoted home maker. She was a faithful member of St. Francis Church in Aviston and a member of the Aviston American Legion Auxiliary.
Her greatest joy was family. She cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren and great grand children.
Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Aviston.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Aviston with Rev. Von Deeke officiating. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Aviston.
Memorials may be made to St. Francis Parish and will be received at the church or Nordike Funeral Home, 150 N. Clinton St., Breese, IL 62230 who is serving the family.
