Mark Lanter of Carlyle died Wednesday, June 18, 2014 in Carlyle at the age of 62 years. Mark was born in Breese, IL on October 2, 1951, the son Voyit and Juanita (Rhodes) Lanter.
Mark is survived by his parents: Voyit Lanter and wife Linda of Breese and Juanita Lanter of Carlyle; sisters: Marjie Danehy and husband Jim of St. Johns, Florida, Denise Brumitt and husband Kevin of Wood River, Illinois and Darla Hetzel of Troy, Illinois; brothers: Brian Lanter and wife Kathy and Jodie Lanter, both of Carlyle; and many nieces, nephews and close friends.
Mark retired from American Home Service in 2006. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid sports fan. He was well known in the area as a catcher for many years, participating on city, school and American Legion baseball teams, as well as in the Clinton County Baseball League.
Funeral services for Mark will be Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Carlyle with Pastor Steven Sommerer officiating. The interment will follow in Carlyle Township Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the Lanter family on Friday at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle from 4 to 8:00 PM or on Saturday at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Carlyle from 10:00 AM until the time of services.
For those wishing to honor Mark with a memorial, the family suggests memorials to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (N.A.M.I.) or to the American Legion Baseball Program and those will be received at the Frerker Funeral Home which is serving the family.
