Mary M. Ackmann of rural Carlyle died Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese at the age of 82 years. Mary was born in Centralia, Illinois on August 11, 1931, the daughter of Eunice (Peeples) Clark. She married William "Ed" Ackmann in Sandoval, Illinois on April 30, 1960.
Mary is survived by her husband of 53 years: Ed; a daughter: Vicki Schanuel and husband Steven of Belleville; a special "son": Bill Schweickhart and wife Sandy of Lake St. Louis, Missouri; three grandchildren: Christy Langford and husband Matthew, Scott Haake and Jamie Kmucha and husband Josh; four great grandchildren: Bhodi Langford, Kai Langford, Jadyn Kmucha , and Haley Kmucha; and special friend Joyce Clyapool.
Mrs. Ackmannn was preceded in death by her mother: Eunice; stepfather: Conrad Clark and a sister: Betty Bauman.
Mary enjoyed spending time in the kitchen baking and cooking- to the point of self-publishing a cookbook The family remembers Mary always preparing a hot meal whether it was breakfast, lunch or supper. One of the family’s favorite desserts made by Mary was pecan pie.
Funeral services will be Monday, December 16, 2013 at 3:30 PM at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle with Pastor Keith Michaels officiating. The interment will follow at Carlyle Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family at the Frerker Funeral Home on Monday from 2:00 P.M. until the time of services.
For those wishing to honor Mary with a memorial, the family suggests memorials to the Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children and those will be received at the Frerker Funeral Home which is serving the family.
