Mary “Snookie” Book-Loepker, 78, of Albers, died Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Clinton Manor in New Baden. She was born November 14, 1937 in Granite City, the daughter of Theodore and Margaret (Lakenburges) Dall. She married Benedict A. Book on February 10, 1959 at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden and he preceded her in death on September 25, 1986; she then married Vic Loepker on October 8, 1994 in Albers and he preceded her in death on May 8, 2000.
She is survived by her children, Connie (Wayne) Thuenemann and Ken (Tina) Book all of Albers, Kelly (Tony) Baumgartner of Trenton, and Chris (Molly) Book of Germantown; her grandchildren Jessie (Kenny) Winkeler, Nick (Jackie) Thuenemann, Ben (special friend, Karen) Book, John Book, Abby (special friend, Kyle) Book, Emily, Kyle, and Kayla Baumgartner, and Chloe and Carson Book; her great-grandchildren, Slone and Easton Winkeler, and expecting Baby Thuenemann in January; her step-children, Steven (Connie) Loepker, Gary Loepker, and Alan (Sue) Loepker; step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, LuLu Mills and JoAnn Baehr both of New Baden; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gene Masterson of Damiansville, Ron Singler of New Baden, Tom & Vicky Book of Belleville, Adela Gerling of Breese, and Marie Lager of Albers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands she was preceded in death by three sisters, Norma Masterson, Judith Singler, and Jeanette Rose Dall in infancy; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jessie Mills, Ferd & Bernice Book, Lawrence & Martha Book, Eleanor & Leander Voss, Aggie & Ally Altgilbers, Marcella & Linus Vosholler,
Ervin Gerling, Bernadine & Leroy Haake, Ray & Alice Book, and Andy Lager.
Mrs. Book-Loepker was a seamstress at Marine Garment in Highland and also a Walmart Associate for the Belleville Walmart. She was a member of St. Bernard Parish and Ladies Sodality and the Albers Commercial Club; she loved to cook, sew and quilt.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 9, 2016 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Albers with Rev. Jack Joyce officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Albers.
Friends may call Friday, January 8, 2016 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again on Saturday, January 9, 2016 from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at Nordike Funeral Home in Albers.
Memorials may be made to Clinton County Relay for Life and will be received at the funeral home.
