Mary F. Howell

Mary F. Howell, 92, of Caruthersville, MO, died Sunday, November 29, 2020 at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, MO. She was born December 24, 1927 in Caruthersville, MO, the daughter of Ferd S. and Laura Mae (Patterson) King. She married Norman A. Howell on January 15, 1947 in Piggott, AR. and he preceded her in death on January 16, 2016.

She is survived by her children, Larry A. (Lois) Howell of Hernando, FL, Danny W. (Melissa) Howell of Caruthersville, MO, and Janice L. (Billy) Batye of St. Charles, MO; seven grandchildren, Russell (Karen) Howell, Tony (Joanna) Bennett, Amy (Jason) Watts, Katie (Vivian) Vela, Brian (Sara) Abel, Jacob Howell, and Haley (Chris Voss) Howell-Pritchett; 10 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Franklin D. (Doris) King of Alamogordo, NM, and Kenneth M. King of Harpers Ferry, WV; a sister-in-law, Marge King of Wood River, IL; nieces and nephews; and she is also survived by very special friends, especially Charlie Jones, Paul & Sharon Russell, Blanche McCoy, and Linda Bush Howren-Reade.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a grandson, Roger Bennett, Jr.; a great-granddaughter, Bethany Howell; a sister, Martha A. Brister; four brothers, Ferd S. King, Jr., Eugene P. King, Edward L. King, and Billie O. King; and brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Herschel Brister, Barbara King, Penny King, Angie King, and Millie King.

Mrs. Howell worked at the Brown Shoe Company for 42 years before her retirement. She was a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Caruthersville, MO.

A private family funeral service will be held.

Memorials may be made to Caruthersville American Legion Post 88 or to the Lutheran Home and will be received at Nordike Funeral Home, 15 E. Hanover, New Baden, IL 62265 who is serving the family.
