Mary Barbara Hund, 77, of New Baden, died Thursday, September 17, 2015 at her home. She was born August 19, 1938 in New Baden, the daughter of Olis and Mary Ann (Grimmer) Hefner. She married John Hund May 30, 1962 at Holy Childhood Church in Mascoutah and he survives in New Baden.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her children, Steve (Jacquie) Hund of Elmhurst, Alan (Veronica) Hund, Tater (Norma) Hund, and Susie (Tim) Hintz all of New Baden, and Dan (Gretchen) Hund of Highland; 15 grandchildren, Zach (Kayla) Hund, Jessie Hund, Josh Hund, Dylan Hund, Rhys Hund, Melanie Hund, Bryn Hund, Carys Hund, Ffyon Hund, Trent Hund, John Hund, Calvin Hintz, Savannah Hund, Valerie Hund, and Lucas Hund; five great-grandchildren, Jeremiah and Aaden Berger, Keygen Crothers, and Breylynn and Riley Hund; a brother, Robert (Lonnie) Hefner of Mascoutah; a sister, Hady (Larry) Hund of Magnolia, TX; and a sister-in-law, Mary H. Hund of Springfield.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edwin and Frances Hund; and brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Paul and Betty Hund, Jim Hund, and Gene Hund.
Mrs. Hund and her husband owned and operated New Baden IGA since 1967. She was a member of St. George Parish and an active member of the community.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 21, 2015 at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden with Rev. Gene Neff officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in New Baden.
Friends may call Sunday, September 20, 2015 from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. and again on Monday, September 21, 2015 from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at Nordike Funeral Home in New Baden.
Memorials may be made to the Parkinson Research Foundation or St. George Parish and will be received at the funeral home.
