Mary B. Litteken

Mary Benita Litteken of Carlyle, Illinois died Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at the Breese Nursing Home, Breese, Illinois at the age of 76 years. Mary was born in Carlyle on November 18, 1933 the daughter of Bernard and Ludena (List) Diekemper. She married Daniel J. Litteken on February 1, 1956 at St. Mary Church in Carlyle and he preceded her in death on February 19, 1962.Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister-in-law: Sylvia Rakers; and two brothers-in-law: David Litteken and Marcel Von Bokel.Mary is survived by her children: Michael Litteken and wife Karen of Columbia, MO., Barbara Berndsen and husband Mark of Breese, IL. Alan Litteken and wife Nancy of Jasper, IND., Dennis Litteken and wife Rita of Breese, IL and Karen Smyth and husband Joe of Edwardsville, IL; two brothers: Bernard 'Diek' Diekemper and wife Catherine of Breese, IL and Leroy Diekemper of Carlyle; eleven grandchildren; and In-laws: Bert Rakers of Trenton, IL. Viola Litteken of Trenton, IL., Lydia Thouvenot and husband Kenneth of Belleville, IL., Margie Von Bokel of Belleville, IL Jim Litteken and wife Thelma of Breese, IL and Aloys Litteken and wife Carol of Des Peres, MO.Mary was a member of St. Mary Church in Carlyle, St. Ann’s Altar Sodality and the Mater Dei High School Mothers and Friends Club. She had worked as a retail clerk for various stores in Carlyle and retired as an Associate at the Carlyle Wal-Mart Store.A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Mary Church in Carlyle on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. with Fr. George Mauck officiating. The interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Trenton, IL.Friends may visit with the family at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle on Friday from 5 to 8:00 P.M. or on Saturday from 8 to 9:30 A.M.The family suggests memorials to the Mater Dei High School Student Assistance Program, 900 Mater Dei Drive, Breese, IL 62230 and those will be received at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle which is serving the family.
