Joseph R. “Joey” McCauley, Jr. 24, of New Memphis, IL, died Friday, November 29, 2013 in St. Louis, MO. He was born November 5, 1989 at Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota, son of Joseph R. and Nancy J. (Geiger) McCauley. He is survived by his mother, Nancy J. Barnett, a brother, Zachary Barnett, a sister, Amanda Barnett all of New Memphis, IL; grandparents, Lou Geiger and Kathy Troescher, great-grandparents, Theresa Geiger and George Phillips, aunt and uncle, Tammy & Mike Bennett all of Cincinnati, OH; grandparents, Robert & Barbara McCauley of Sequim, WA; he is also survived by nieces, nephews, and best friends, Cody, Matt, Scotty and Mike. Mr. McCauley was a roofer and a carpenter. He was a member of the St. Louis Roofers Union. He was a graduate of Mascoutah High School class of 2008 where he was on the soccer team and he was a graduate of the Rankin Carpentry program. He enjoyed photography and playing guitar. A celebration of life service will be held January 25, 2014 at 2 PM at Trinity Services, 973 North 6th Street, Mascoutah, IL 62258. Memorials may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and will be received at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden, IL who is in charge of arrangements.
