Anna T. “Dorothy” Meissner, 99, of Breese, died Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Caring First Nursing Home in Breese. She was born January 18, 1914 in Breese, daughter of Herman and Anna (Treutlein) Hinkamp. She married Robert A. Meissner January 24, 1940 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese and he preceded her in death January 31, 1982. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret D. “Margo” Holt of Lenexa, KS; four grandchildren, Matthew McKane of Glendale, AZ, Molly (Jason) Roudebush of Prairie Village, KS, Anna E. (fiancé, Robert Palmer) of Tulsa, OK, and Chase Holt of Lenexa, KS; two great- grandchildren, Ian and Maya Roudebush; a son-in-law, John McKane of Sun City West, AZ; a sister, Mildred Desporte of Long Beach, MS; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Hinkamp of Chicago, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, including caregiver/special great-niece Jane (Jay) Schniers of Breese; great-great nieces and nephews and great-great-great nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary D. McKane; a son-in-law, Theron Holt; a sister, Adele Pitt; four brothers, Joseph, Edward, Wilbert, and Raymond Hinkamp; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ernest Desporte, Virginia Hinkamp, Maynard Pitt, Zelma Hinkamp, Henrietta Hinkamp, Wilma Hinkamp, Harriet Enkelmann Frey, Robert Enkelmann, Oscar Frey, Louis “Buck” & Catherine Meissner, Francis “Pat” & Betty Meissner, and Richard & Nora Meissner. Mrs. Meissner was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Dominic Parish and Altar Sodality, a charter member of the Daughters of Isabella Precious Blood Circle 718, a charter member and the oldest member of the Breese Historical Society, former member of the Breese Library Board, and a former member of the Kaskaskia Library System. She was also a member of a pinochle card club group with the same women for over 40 years, an avid reader, and a St. Louis Cardinals fan. “What you read about in the history books, I’ve lived.” Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 29, 2013 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese with Rev. Patrick Peter officiating. Burial will follow at St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery in Breese. Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2013 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Friday, November 29, 2013 at Hempen Funeral Home in Breese. The Daughters of Isabella will visit the funeral home at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, the Clinton County Humane Society or to the donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home
