Melvin E. Potts

Melvin E. Potts, 82, of Carlyle died on Wednesday December 30, 2009 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese. He was born March 31, 1927 in Peoria, IL and married Freeda Potts on March 25, 1953; she proceeded in death in 2003.Mr. Potts is survived by a daughter; Elizabeth Potts of Carlyle, a son Danny Lee Scaggs of Carlyle.Melvin was a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed doing for others, as demonstrated by helping with the Matthew 25 food distributions.Funeral Service for Mr. Potts will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday January 2, 2010 at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle. Rev. Keith Michaels will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Carlyle Cemetery.Friends my visit with the family on Friday January 1, 2010 from 6 until 8:00 PM and on Saturday from 8 until 10:00 AM.Memorials in Melvin’s honor are suggested to the VFW of America or to the charity of donor’s choice.
