Meyer, Marcel

Marcell J. Meyer, 91, of Trenton, died Friday, August 18, 2006 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville. He was born September 14, 1914 in Mascoutah Township, IL, son of Frank and Catherine (Loehr) Meyer. He is survived by two sisters, Agatha Laux and husband Ray of Rural New Baden and Loretta Meyer of Rural New Baden; two nephews, Frank Laux and wife Diana of Wheeling, IL and Verlan Laux of Trenton; one niece, Kathy Rudy and husband Dave of Mascoutah; and great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Cecelia B. Meyer. Mr. Meyer was a farmer. He was a member of St. George Parish in New Baden, the Mascoutah Moose and St. Clair County Farm Bureau. A funeral mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden with Rev. Eugene Neff officiating. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in New Baden. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, August 21, 2006 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden. There will be a prayer service at ? p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. George Church or to the donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.
