Mueller, Mildred

Mildred Fochtmann Mueller of Wayne, Pennsylvania—formerly of New Baden, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, April 16th, 2014 at Paoli Hospital, Paoli, Pennsylvania. Mildred was born April 29th, 1937 in New Baden and was the daughter of Irvin and Thera (nee Peters) Fochtmann. Mildred was a graduate of New Baden High School, class of 1955. She married Ensign John A. Mueller, U.S. Navy on January 2nd, 1957 at the Evangelical and Reformed Church, New Baden, Illinois. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Wilburn, Gerald, and Robert “Buck” Fochtmann; sisters-in-law, Frances Fochtmann Harrison and Lillian “Pat” Causey; and a brother-in-law, Ardell J. Mueller. She is survived by her husband, Commander John A. Mueller, USN (Retired) of Wayne, Pennsylvania; a daughter, Gay (Kevin) Williamson of Bel Air, Maryland; a son John B. Mueller of Wayne, Pennsylvania; grandsons, Steven (Cassie) Williamson and Andrew (“Sam”) Williamson; sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Fochtmann, Anita Fochtmann, and Ileen Mueller; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mildred was a loving wife and mother whose immediate and extended families were all-important to her. She made the extra effort needed to keep in close contact with all of the family throughout her years and travels as a Navy wife; always trying to visit as many of the family as possible during brief visits to her hometown. She spent hundreds of hours researching and documenting the family histories for both the Fochtmanns and Muellers, and freely shared that information with all who were interested. Even as time was growing short, and her strength was failing, she attempted to assemble collections of photos, records and mementos to pass on to the family members coming behind her. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Zion United Church of Christ in New Baden, IL with Rev. Gretchen Sterrett officiating. Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery in New Baden, IL. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Zion United Church of Christ in New Baden, IL. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and will be received at the church or Hempen Funeral Home, 15 E. Hanover, New Baden, IL 62265 who is in charge of arrangements.
