Muriel E. Koch, formerly of Huey, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2013 at the Carlyle Healthcare Center at the age of 100 years. She was born in Huey the daughter of Charles A. and Ella E. (Davenport) Simms. She married George Koch on December 25, 1934 in Huey and he preceded her in death on July 2, 1991.
Muriel is survived by two daughters: Evelyn M. Rubel and husband Ron of Salem, OR and Mildred R. "Midge" Martin and husband Charlie of Springfield, IL; a son: Charles Koch and wife Nila of Huey; seven grandchildren: Lee Rubel, Leasa Peety, Dennis Allen, Jodi Zak, Charles Koch Jr., Denise DeVatt and Debra Phillips; thirteen great grandchildren; and one great great grandson.
Muriel was the fifth of seven children and was preceded in death by her sisters: Dorothy Donaldson, Beulah Blackwell, Grace Copple and Edith Short; and two brothers: Leonard and Robert Simms.
Mrs. Koch was retired from the Moran Show Factory (Wee Walker) of Carlyle and enjoyed being a homemaker.
Funeral services for Mrs. Koch will be Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle with Mr. Larry Patton officiating. The interment will follow at Carlyle Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family at the Frerker Funeral Home on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until the time of services.
The those wishing to honor Muriel with a memorial, the family suggests memorials to the Epilepsy Foundation, the American Cancer Society or to the charity of your choice and those will be received at the Frerker Funeral Home which is serving the family.
