Bart D. Murphy, Jr., 82, of New Baden, IL, died Friday, May 18, 2007 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL. He was a dedicated husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, and loyal friend. He was born on August 4, 1924 in East St. Louis, IL, son of Bart D. Murphy Sr., and Abie (Montgomery) Murphy. He married Mary Elizabeth “Liz” Murphy on November 27, 1948 in East St. Louis, IL and she preceded him in death on April 26, 2005. He is survived by his son, Dennis Murphy and wife Alice of Albers, IL; three daughters, Karen Giles and husband Rick of O’Fallon, IL, Patricia Gonzalez and husband Robert of Fairview Heights, IL, and Mary Beth Tribout and husband Dennis of Millstadt, IL; one son-in-law, Thomas E. Keen, Sr. of New Baden, IL; 13 grandchildren, Patrick Murphy, Christopher Murphy, T.J. Keen, Teri Keen, Kerstin Schmitz and husband David, Stacey Giles, Derek Giles, Michael Gonzalez, Connor Gonzalez, Garrett Gonzalez, Spencer Tribout, Carly Tribout, & Lizzie Tribout; and a brother-in-law John D. Murphy and sister-in-law and Catherine Murphy, of Burkburnett, TX. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Mary K. “Kathy” Keen, two brothers, Austin Murphy and Ralph Murphy, two sisters-in-law, Virginia Murphy and Margaret Murphy, two brothers-in-law James G. Murphy, Jr. & Jerome Murphy; father-in-law James Gorman Murphy, Sr., & mother-in-law, Catherine L. (Kealey) Murphy. Mr. Murphy retired from Hartford Insurance Company at The National City Stock Yards. He was a member of St. George Parish. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 21, 2007 at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden, IL with Gene Neff officiating. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, New Baden, IL. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday, May 20, 2007 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 21, 2007 at Hempen Funeral Home, New Baden, IL. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be received at the funeral home.
