Eugene A. “Nip” Niemeyer, 90, of Breese, died Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Countryside Manor in Aviston. He was born March 15, 1923 in Breese son of Ferd C. and Elizabeth Ann (Strake) Niemeyer. He married Emma A. Haumesser on November 27, 1958 in Equality, IL and she survives in Breese. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister-in-law, June Gonzalez of Beckemeyer; nieces and nephews, Dan (Ann) Niemeyer of Boulder, CO, Diane Niemeyer of Chicago, IL, Diane (Bryan) Marsh of Trenton, IL and Ricardo (Deb) Gonzalez of Carlyle, IL; great nieces and great nephews, Jerry (Stacie) Niemeyer, Robert Niemeyer, Tricia (Clent) Schulte, Ryan (Megan) Gonzalez, and Lauren (Jared) Langhauser; great-great nephew and great-great niece, Daniel Niemeyer and Emily Niemeyer; step great nieces and great nephews, Scott (Amy) Marsh, Amy (Matt) Ori, and Christopher (friend, Christina) Marsh; and special friends, Tom and Phyllis Berndsen. He is also survived by the families of his extended Robben and Brefeld families. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Charles D. “Nip” Niemeyer, Catherine Niemeyer, Florence Niemeyer, Albert Niemeyer, Dorothy Niemeyer, and Dorothy Niemeyer; brother-in-law, Manuel “Abie” Gonzalez; sister-in-law, Agnes E. “Smitty” Niemeyer; extended family, Robert (Gert) Robben, Lawrence (Fern) Robben, and Rose Marie “Dolly” (Bernard) Brefeld. Before his retirement Mr. Niemeyer worked as the office manager for Cunliff Construction Co. at the Monsanto Plant in St. Louis, MO. He was a member of St. Dominic Parish in Breese, Breese Historical Society, the Breese Knights of Columbus Council #2869 and was a former member of the Carlyle Knights of Columbus Council #1382. He enjoyed playing golf and would play seven days a week if possible. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese with Rev. Patrick Peter officiating. Burial will follow at St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery in Breese. Friends may call on Saturday, April 27, 2013 from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Mater Dei High School, St. Dominic Parish, or St. Joseph Hospital and will be received at the church or Hempen Funeral Home who is in charge of arrangements.
