Marcellus J. "Teedle" Niemeyer, 74, of Breese, died Friday, October 26, 2007, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was born September 2, 1933 in Breese, son of Frank and Anna (Huelsmann) Niemeyer. He married Betty Lou Vandeloo in Carlyle on November 24, 1955 and she survives in Breese.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Denise Holtmann and husband Stan of Breese, Deb Deters and husband Tom of Kenosha, WI, David Niemeyer and wife Myra of Kirkwood, MO, Donna Hegger and husband Tom of Aviston and Duane Niemeyer and wife Lisa of Aviston; ten grandchildren, Brian Holtmann and special friend Ali Weh, Jamie Henss and husband Jarid, Anna Deters, John Deters, Marc Niemeyer, Jack Niemeyer, Courtney Hegger, Casey Hegger, Lucy Niemeyer, and Sam Niemeyer; bothers & sisters, Tony Niemeyer and wife Elsie of Breese, Dolores Harvilla and husband George of O’Fallon, Greg Niemeyer and wife Marie of Breese and Margaret Dronsfield and husband Bob of Temple Hills, MD; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Don and Lu Vandeloo, Paulette and Jim Wellen and Bill and Virginia Vandeloo.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Em Kohrs; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joe and Gertrude Vandeloo and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Willie Kohrs, Msgr. Melvin Vandeloo and JoAnn and "Beps" Kauling.
Mr. Niemeyer worked in civil service at Headquarters Military Airlift Command at Scott Air Force Base. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of St. Dominic Parish in Breese; the Breese Knights of Columbus Council #2869 and the American Legion Post 252 in Breese.
A funeral mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, October 29, 2007 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese with Rev. Ben Stern officiating. Burial will follow at St. Dominic/St. Augustine Cemetery in Breese.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, October, 28, 2007 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. on Monday, October 29, 2007 at Hempen Funeral Home in Breese. The Knights of Columbus will pray the rosary at 7:00 p.m. and the American Legion will visit at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.
