Norbert A. Jansen, 92, of Albers, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2017, at Clinton Manor Living Center in New Baden. He was born on October 26, 1924 in Albers, the son of William and Margaret (Kloeckner) Jansen.
He is survived by a sister, Marie Straeter of St. Rose; a brother, Edmond Jansen and wife Norma of Albers; a sister-in-law, Marie Jansen of Aviston; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Norbert was preceded in death by his siblings: Martha Varel and husband Al, Stella Heimann and husband Al, Albert Jansen and wife Catherine, Raymond Jansen and wife Adele, Leo Jansen and wife Henrietta, Sister Eulogia Jansen, Clara Schachner and husband Robert, Vincent Jansen, and Louis Jansen who died in infancy; and a brother-in-law, Larry Straeter.
Norbert was a member of St. Bernard Parish in Albers, the Clinton County Farm Bureau, and the Albers Knights of Columbus. He was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed riding his horses in his younger days.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 2, 2017 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Albers with Fr. Anthony Onyango and Deacon Glenn Netemeyer officiating. Interment will follow at St .Bernard Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8 until 10:00 AM on Monday, October 2, 2017 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Albers.
Expressions of sympathy made in memory of Norbert are suggested to St. Bernard Parish or Mater Dei Catholic High School and will be received at church or at Nordike Funeral Home.
