Norma A. Burtz

Norma A. Burtz of Carlyle died Sunday, December 26, 2010 at her home at the age of 89 years. Mrs. Burtz was born in New Minden, IL on January 9, 1921 the daughter of William and Ida (Oexeman) Stein. Norma married Raymond Burtz on January 21, 1947 in Carlyle and he preceded her in death on April 20, 2006.Mrs. Burtz is survived by her children: Sheila Downen and Gary Burtz both of Carlyle; a sister: Irma Bach of Carlyle; a sister-in-law Lorna Stein of Ferrin; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.Norma was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers: Richard, Martin and Elmer Stein.Norma was a member of St. Mary Church, St. Mary Church Ladies Sodality and the Goldsmith-Terry V.F.W. Post 3523 Ladies Auxiliary.A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary Church with Fr. George Mauck presiding. The interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.Friends may visit with the family at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle on Tuesday from 3 to 8:00 P.M. or on Wednesday from 8 to 9:30 A.M.Expressions of sympathy are suggested to the Burtz family and those will be received at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle which is serving the family.
